We have temperature checks on our refrigeration equipment continually. We have hygiene checks being done before we open using special biological swabs to make sure our equipment is being cleaned and sanitized correctly. We have employee bathrooms and hand wash stations all over the building that are monitored for cleanliness, sanitizer and soap daily. We have hand sanitizer available at different locations in the market. Our customer bathrooms have eight sinks in each. Our cashiers are cleaning their pin pads regularly. We enlarged the space between the checkouts. We clean our hand baskets and rolling carts with a bleach pressure washer regularly.
We are putting markers on the floor in front of service counters and checkouts to let people know to stay back 6 feet. All employees are wearing gloves and masks that are dealing with the customers. You can buy your fresh vegetables, bread and non-food products and have a stop for a drink afterwards in one of the many surrounding restaurants. This organic and farmers market takes place in the heart of the city, close to Amsterdam Centraal and the Red Light District. The organic market takes place next to the regular market, and brings a great variety of fresh products like the bakery of Vlaamsch Broodhuys or the honey straight from the producer and flowers from De Pluktuin.Įvery Saturday from 8.30 am to 5.30 pm, at Buikslotermeerplein. The place to buy organic vegetables, cheese and meat in Amsterdam Noord. Also great for a lunch: I used to work nearby and I would buy my veggie burger there almost every week on Wednesdays.Įvery Wednesday from 10 am to 5 pm, at Haarlemmerplein. The selection is not too varied, but it’s good for a weekly shopping trip. A small market on Haarlemmerplein, where you can find fresh veggies and fruit, cheese, fish, garden plants and some other local and mainly organic products. It’s not weekly and you’ll have to check the schedule on their website, but it’s totally worth a visit. There is always some music around, sometimes dancing, and entertainment for kids.

The atmosphere is gezzelig, and it’s almost like a fair where you can take your family or friends for a few hours of fun. Sometimes I’ll meet a friend for a short chat over a coffee and a freshly baked muffin. My favourite activity on Saturdays is to visit the market and browse the colourful stalls looking for the best vegetables, flowers and herbs. There are many places in Amsterdam where you can buy organic products, from the regular supermarket chains to fancy boutiques, but my favourites, by far, are the farmers markets!
